Over the past decades, FOSS Lighting Experts has illuminated hundreds of projects in Greece and worldwide and has established itself as the leading provider of holistic lighting experiences.
Our story
Helmed by its founder, Tassos Bizakis, who built on his years-long career at Philips Lighting, the company launched as a lighting design firm to later include a showroom offering premium and high-quality solutions unique to the Greek market and, finally, established itself as an expert and reliable partner that covers design, retail, and R&D.
Our team is composed of experienced designers and engineers who utilize their aesthetic values, know-how, and technical expertise to bring to life even the most demanding projects. We collaborate with private clients and architects, interior designers, landscape architects, civil engineers, and other lighting designers, and we cherish our long-standing relationships that have resulted in exquisite collaborations all over the world.
Since 1990, FOSS has illuminated some of the most ambitious projects and has achieved countless proud moments, including the Ellinikon Experience Park, the Tatoi Club, the Amanzoe resort, the Astir Palace Four Seasons Hotel and the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center (SNFCC).

No matter whether we get involved in the early building stages or if we upgrade and retrofit older lighting systems, we can implement sustainable solutions that have a positive impact on people’s well-being.
Our portfolio consists of many projects that have received recognition for their green strategy, like the kindergarten of Athens College that achieved the LEED Platinum certification, or the Ellinikon Experience Park that was realized in accordance with the SITES rating standards.

Lighting Design
Lighting design has been part of our DNA since our inception and our vision has always been to provide schemes that are human-centric and ideal for rest, work and play.
From the most complex project to the finest detail, FOSS can be a supporting or exclusive partner during the lighting design process offering a broad range of services from consulting, pre-budgeting and value engineering, to daylight study, circadian lighting, product supply, tailor-made luminaires, sample product demonstrations, project management, programming and maintenance. Thanks to our in-house design, installation and programming teams, FOSS can provide turnkey solutions that guarantee our hands-on involvement and quality control every step of the way. From the initial concept to the most detailed technical drawings, 3D renderings, and the implementation of lighting control systems, we deliver solutions that are energy efficient, easy to use and maintain in the long run.
Lighting Control & Integration
At FOSS, connectivity and system integration using the latest technology is an important part of what we do. As a distinguished dealer of Lutron, a leader in developing pioneer lighting control systems, we can program and install lighting control systems and smart solutions that put the control of any type of building at your fingertips.
Lighting, heating and cooling, blinds, shutters, audio and TV systems as well as all the different screens can simply be accessed and adjusted from a universal remote, for example your phone or your tablet.
In addition, by using the intuitive Control4 interface, FOSS can smarten any type of building and make it cost-saving, safe and convenient.
R&D
Always striving for excellence and innovation, FOSS has created an in-house R&D department that allows for a focused and specialized research on materials, processes and systems.
In our facilities, equipped with a state-of-the-art CNC lathe and vertical machining center, we have the ability to create prototypes, expand our knowledge on the latest lighting technologies and fabricate bespoke lighting fixtures and components for special projects.
Retail & Products
FOSS cooperates with state-of-the-art companies and offers a large selection of products that span indoor and outdoor lights, immersion and underwater lights, decorative, organic or industrial led fixtures, as well as advanced lighting control systems.
Our showroom offers access to products by pioneer companies such as Delta Light, DGA, Meyer, Wibre and Lutron, some of which are exclusively found in our store.

After his first degree in management from the University of Thessaloniki, Tassos soon discovered his passion for lighting and started getting engaged in projects that got more and more challenging, expanding from Greece throughout Europe. Having worked for Philips Lighting from 1984, in 1990 he decided to take the next step and create Foss. Since then, he brings the most demanding designs to light.

Manos graduated from the National Technical University of Athens. An electrical engineer with considerable experience, he still enjoys carrying a project throughout, never missing a step from the conceptual stage to the mere details in the construction phase. Having joined Foss in 1998, Manos Petrakakis further deepened his specialization in interior and exterior lighting design.
